AFAQ Mining

Hamida prospect is one of the principal gold occurrences within the AFAQ Mining West Elbah Concession in the south-eastern desert of Egypt, Hamida forms part of a large mineralised corridor hosted within the Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS), one of the world’s most prospective Precambrian gold provinces.

The prospect is located within a structurally controlled belt of deformation, hydrothermal alteration, and gold mineralisation extending for more than 30 km along strike across the West Elbah concession area. Hamida represents one of the most compelling early-stage exploration targets in the concession due to the scale of alteration, widespread mineralisation indicators, and strong geological similarities to producing orogenic gold systems elsewhere in the Egyptian Eastern Desert and northern Sudan.

Hamida Location and Accessibility

The Hamida occurrence benefits from favourable logistics and accessibility compared with many frontier exploration projects in the Arabian-Nubian Shield.

Hamida Key Infrastructure Advantages

  • Approximately 90 km southwest of Shalateen
  • Accessible through improved desert access roads
  • Close to the Red Sea coastal highway linking:
    • Marsa Alam
    • Quseir
    • Hurghada

Hamida Historical Mining Activity

Like many areas in the Eastern Desert, Hamida lies within a region that experienced historic gold exploitation dating back to Pharaonic times.

The broader West Elbah district contains numerous ancient workings and historic production sites,These historic workings provide strong evidence that ancient miners successfully identified gold-bearing structures across the district.

Hamida Exploration Activities

  • 4515 Surface samples collected.
  • 6 trenches with 158 m and 114 samples.
  • Identification of mineralised corridors.
  • Delineation of alteration zones.

Hamida prospect is one of the most promising emerging exploration targets within the West Elbah concession area in Egyptian Eastern Desert which is increasingly recognised as a globally important frontier gold province. Government reforms, modern mining legislation, and increased foreign investment have accelerated exploration activity across the Arabian-Nubian Shield.
