Discovering Gold at the Hamida Prospect

Hamida Prospect High-Priority Gold Exploration, located in the Shalateen area of Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate, demonstrates excellent potential for orogenic gold mineralization. Our comprehensive surface sampling program across quartz veins, shear zones, and extensive alteration systems has returned multiple gold anomalies, confirming Hamida as a compelling target within the northern Arabian-Nubian Shield.

Introduction to the Hamida Gold Prospect

Situated in the strategic Shalateen region, the Hamida Prospect lies within a highly prospective corridor known for historic and modern gold occurrences. The project benefits from excellent exposure of both Cretaceous Nubian Sandstone and underlying Neoproterozoic basement rocks of the Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS) — one of the richest gold provinces globally.

This surface exploration dataset includes 4515 samples with precise UTM coordinates, detailed lithological descriptions, structural measurements, and fire assay gold results. Mineralization is primarily hosted in quartz veins , silicified alteration zones, and shear-related structures rich in iron oxides, sulfides, carbonates, and pathfinder minerals such as malachite and galena.

Hamida Geological Setting

The Hamida area exemplifies the classic Eastern Desert gold environment. It features Cretaceous Nubian Sandstone, which offers potential for unconformity-related or covered targets, overlying Neoproterozoic basement terranes of the Arabian-Nubian Shield. These basement rocks consist of island-arc metavolcanics, ophiolites, and late-orogenic intrusions that were deformed during the Pan-African event.

Mineralization is structurally controlled by major shear zones, faults, and quartz-carbonate vein systems. Common hydrothermal alteration includes silicification, sericitization, chloritization, carbonatization, pyritization, and abundant iron oxides (hematite, limonite, and goethite).

Dominant lithologies identified during sampling include quartz veins, which serve as the primary gold host, along with metasediments, gabbro, and metabasalt showing various degrees of alteration. pyritic zones, diorite, and granite alteration zones are also widespread. The area displays extensive mylonitic and foliated shear zones, which enhance permeability and fluid flow, making Hamida highly prospective.

These geological features align closely with known gold systems in the Shalateen-Halayeb Triangle and other productive prospects in the southern Eastern Desert.

Hamida Prospect Attractiveness

Surface sampling at the Hamida prospect identified widespread gold anomalism across several zones of interest, with a number of areas considered high-priority exploration targets.
The mineralization is mainly associated with smoky quartz veins, iron oxide alteration, sulfide minerals, and carbonate-rich zones. In several locations, malachite staining was observed, indicating the presence of copper mineralization alongside gold pathfinder elements within the vein system. The continuity of anomalous mineralization along strike, combined with the broad distribution of altered and mineralized zones, suggests potential for both high-grade vein-hosted mineralization and larger-scale bulk-tonnage targets within the area.

Conclusion

The Hamida Prospect in the Shalateen region stands out as a promising gold exploration opportunity in Egypt’s Eastern Desert. With robust quartz vein-hosted mineralization, extensive alteration systems, and multiple gold anomalies returned from systematic surface sampling, Hamida offers excellent potential for discovery within the Nubian Sandstone–basement contact and shear zones of the Arabian-Nubian Shield.
