Introduction to the Hamida Prospect
The Hamida Prospect is one of the promising gold exploration targets within Egypt’s Eastern Desert, located in the Arabian-Nubian Shield — a globally recognized geological terrain known for hosting significant gold mineralization systems. Recent trenching activities completed by AFAQ Mining at Hamida have provided encouraging geological and geochemical indicators that support the potential for structurally controlled gold mineralization.
The Hamida trenching gold results demonstrate the presence of alteration zones, quartz veining, and anomalous gold grades associated with highly altered metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks. These findings are strengthening the geological understanding of the prospect and supporting future exploration programs.
Geological Setting of Hamida
The Hamida area is situated within the Precambrian Arabian-Nubian Shield of Egypt’s Eastern Desert. The prospect is characterized by altered meta-andesite, schists, sheared lithologies, and structurally controlled quartz veins that are commonly associated with gold-bearing hydrothermal systems.
Field observations and trench logging identified:
- Strong silica alteration
- Sericite and chlorite alteration
- Kaolinitic weathering zones
- Quartz vein development
- Shearing and deformation structures
- Oxidized and transitional weathering profiles
These geological characteristics are commonly associated with orogenic gold systems across the Eastern Desert.
Hamida Trenching Program Overview
The trenching campaign at Hamida was designed to evaluate near-surface mineralization and better define gold-bearing structures exposed at surface.
Trenching Program Highlights
- Total trenches completed: 6 trenches
- Trench lengths ranged from approximately 16 m to 52 m
- Detailed lithological and structural logging conducted
- Continuous channel sampling completed across mineralized zones
The trenching work focused on mapping alteration intensity, identifying structural controls, and defining gold-bearing intervals within weathered and fresh rock units.
Hamida Trenching Gold Results
The Hamida trenching gold results revealed several anomalous gold intervals associated with altered meta-andesite and sheared lithologies.

Gold Assay Highlights
Gold assay results from trench sampling returned encouraging anomalous values across several trenches. The mineralized zones appear to correlate with:
- Highly altered meta-andesite
- Quartz-rich intervals
- Structural deformation zones
- Shear-controlled alteration corridors
Trenching data indicates that gold mineralization remains open along strike and may continue at depth.
Conclusion – A Promising Start
Hamida trenching program has delivered real gold intersections at very shallow depth. With 2.54 g/t Au over 1.3 m and multiple other anomalies, this area is now a priority for follow-up drilling.
